Our Story / Notre Histoire
The International Montessori Academy was created in June 2015 by Taly Pinhas. Taly has lived in the DRC for most of her life and saw a big flaw in the classic educational system that the children are exposed to.
L’International Montessori Academy a été créée en juin 2015 par Taly Pinhas. Taly a vécu la majeure partie de sa vie en RD Congo où elle a pu observer les défauts du système éducatif traditionnel auxquels les enfants sont confrontés.
IMA is a bilingual International Academy that is based on Maria Montessori's method of education and on her vision to reach as many children as possible.
IMA est une Académie internationale bilingue basée sur la pédagogie de Maria Montessori et sur sa volonté d’atteindre le plus grand nombre d’enfants.
Our goal is to foster a child’s natural inclination to learn. Our Montessori teachers guide rather than instruct, linking each student with activities that meet his interests, needs, and developmental level. The classroom is designed to allow movement and collaboration, as it also promotes concentration and a sense of order.
Notre objectif est de favoriser la tendance naturelle de l’enfant à apprendre. Nos professeurs Montessori sont plus guides qu’enseignants, et mettent en relation l’enfant avec ses activités correspondant à ses intérêts, ses besoins et son niveau de développement. La salle de classe est organisée pour permettre les mouvements et la coopération tout en promouvant la concentration et le sens de l’ordre.
We view a child as one who is naturally eager for knowledge and capable of initiating learning in a supportive, thoughtfully prepared learning environment. It is an approach that values the human spirit and the development of the whole child—physical, social, emotional, cognitive.
Nous voyons l’enfant comme un être naturellement avide de connaissance et développant lui-même ses capacités plus librement grâce à un matériel didactique spécialisé. Cette approche met en valeur l’esprit humain et favorise le développement cognitif, physique, social et émotionnel de l’enfant.
